Region Örebro County Chooses Platform24 for the Future of Digital Healthcare

April 16, 2026

Region Örebro County has selected Platform24 as a strategic partner to continue developing and streamlining the region’s digital healthcare. The agreement, signed with Atea, runs for an initial period of three years with an option for extension.

Platform24 is already part of the region’s digital entry points, but previously only through the national Inera agreement for the 1177 direkt service. The new agreement means that the region is now taking the full step towards its own, more comprehensive instance of the platform to also replace other digital solutions currently used in the region.

„Through the agreement with Platform24, we can build on the work with online healthcare that we started several years ago via Inera’s agreement. The new agreement gives us the opportunity to broaden the use of the platform for digital care meetings and make its functionality available to all of health and medical care, the Public Dental Service (Folktandvården), Regionhälsan, and others. At the same time, it creates new opportunities to further develop and strengthen digital services for our residents.“ – Göran Thörn, Deputy Head of Unit Digital Care Environments, Region Örebro.

The solution will be implemented in stages, starting with 1177 and primary care in the first step, followed by other areas of operation such as specialist care and dental care. By replacing the previous solution with its own dedicated setup of the platform, the region gains greater control over the patient journey and can offer a wider range of services to its residents. Existing workflows and medical flows developed within 1177 direkt are being leveraged and will now be deepened with new functionality, such as AI-based chat summarization and integrations with the Cambio Cosmic electronic health record system to make work easier for healthcare professionals.

”We are very much looking forward to deepening our collaboration with Region Örebro County. The region has already developed highly successful working methods within 1177 direkt, and our goal is to take the next step together to offer a more seamless experience for both residents and healthcare staff. By combining the region’s experience with the full functionality of our platform, we are creating a long-term sustainable solution that strengthens accessibility, quality, and workflows in healthcare.”

Platform24’s product Pathways for digital care processes is also part of the agreement. Pathways is designed to support episodic care flows, creating a cohesive and secure journey for the patient throughout their entire treatment. Initially, Pathways will be implemented within a specialist area with the objective of broadening it thereafter.
